This program is unique in Canada. Course content includes highly sophisticated mathematical approaches to engineering issues. Mathematics and Engineering students will take pure and applied math along with engineering courses in their chosen area of specialization. Students will learn to analyze and solve engineering problems requiring superior math skills, such as those involving modern communications, control and mechatronic systems. Areas of specialization include applied mechanics, computing and communication, systems and robotics.

The first year of study in Engineering and Applied Science is based on a common curriculum and serves as an introduction to all of the academic plans offered by the Faculty. The choice of academic plan the student intends to follow in the second and subsequent years is made in February in the Winter Term of the first year.

Note: Students in this program are also eligible for the Queen’s Undergraduate Internship Program (QUIP) which provides 2nd or 3rd year students with a 12-16 month work experience. The internships are paid, professionally supervised, career-related positions offering students the opportunity to learn about current advances, practices, and technologies in business and industry.
