Program Description

The BA Economics provides students with a broad understanding of economics, and exposes them to a wide range of specialist economics areas. Students will develop the theoretical understanding and quantitative skills that good economists are expected to have. As they progress through their degrees, the program focuses on the applications of economics to real-world problems.

Year one will build the foundation for the rest of the degree. Students will study core economic principles and theories, and develop their core quantitative skills in mathematical methods for economics.

In year two, students will build on their toolkits of theoretical and quantitative skills. After second year, students have the opportunity to complete an optional one-year work placement. In final year, modules include a wide range of specialised areas in economics. Students have the chance to put their skills into practice through a number of short projects in the Economics in Action module, while also acquiring research skills.
