Program Description

English and history is a natural combination, uniquely positioning students to understand and interrogate diverse texts and media from all over the world and place them within their historical, social and political contexts.

Students will explore literary and historical cultures from the medieval to the present day, all while developing their skills as critical, creative and independent thinkers.

In this dual honours program, students divide their studies between the School of English and the Department of History. Choice and flexibility are at the heart of The University of Sheffield's teaching, which means students can pursue and develop your their interests. At every level, there is a wide variety of modules to choose from. Students will also be taught by world-leading experts from both departments.
