Program Description

This degree gives students a strong grounding in the core skills of political analysis and political theory, whilst placing emphasis on the international dimensions of the study of politics. Students explore and apply many of the theories to issues such as international trade or climate change.

The University of Sheffield's programmes are designed to give students a solid foundation in theory, methods and analytical skills, whilst at the same time offering students the choice to specialise in the subject areas that they find the most interesting, which ensures that they get the most out of your degree.

In the first year, students will be introduced to the key areas of the discipline. Students are supported in making the transition to degree-level study and provided with the knowledge and analytical skills they'll use as they progress throughout their academic journey.

In year two, students will further develop their existing skills and apply them to real life political questions and issues. By examining different approaches and perspectives, students are set up for success.

By the final year, students are ready to carry out their own independent research, with faculty support, alongside their choice of taught modules. They will also learn about the cutting-edge research being performed in the faculty.
