The education students receive in the Desautels Faculty of Music will prepare them for a wide range of careers, including traditional performance, music education, composition and history, as well as many other music and arts-related professions. The Faculty offers instruction in all orchestral, band and jazz instruments, piano/organ and all vocal areas.
In the Bachelor of Jazz Studies, students can expect to learn in an environment of intense creativity and collaboration, built on a foundation of academic excellence, with an inspiring balance of tradition and innovation. Students can also explore a range of course options that are outside their chosen major area of study.

For direct admission, applicant must be from an English speaking country or meet either of the following English test scores:
- Min TOEFL iBT: 86 (Min Listening: 20.0, Min Reading: 20.0, Min Speaking: 20.0, Min Writing: 20.0)
- Min IELTS overall: 6.5 (Min Listening: 6.0, Min Reading: 6.0, Min Speaking: 6.0, Min Writing: 6.0)
- Min PTE overall: 58
Applicants interested in applying for direct admission, but are yet to complete an acceptable language test, can do so, but must provide valid results before receiving a final offer letter.This program does NOT offer conditional admission
