The BS program in biological sciences with a concentration in genetics, cell and developmental biology integrates the study of three exciting, closely related areas of life science research.

Genetics examines the blueprints of life, such as DNA sequence and gene expression, while cell biology studies the machinery of life enclosed within the boundaries of cells. Developmental biology uses both genetics and cell biology to understand how genes and the environment interact to produce a whole new individual from a single cell as well as understand the various developmental changes that organisms undergo throughout life.

The combined study of genetics, cell biology and development has resulted in a better understanding of many diseases and promises to prove even more important in the future.

Admission Requirements

  • Minimum Level of Education Required: Grade 12 / High School
  • Min GPA: 70.0% 
  • English Proficiency Requirements:
    For direct admission, applicant must be from an English speaking country or meet either of the following English test scores:
    • Min TOEFL iBT: 61
    • Min IELTS overall: 6 (Min Listening: 5.5, Min Reading: 5.5, Min Speaking: 5.5, Min Writing: 5.5)
    • Min Duolingo English Test Score: 95
    • Min PTE overall: 53
    Applicants interested in applying for direct admission, but are yet to complete an acceptable language test, can do so, but must provide valid results before receiving a final offer letter.
    For conditional admission, instead of submitting language proficiency test scores, applicants may complete English courses prior to the academic program. The length of the English course is determined based on the applicant's level of English proficiency.

  • Undergraduate College Fee: $1,800 per year
  • Student Initiated Fee: $638 per year
  • International Visa Admin Fee: $200 per year
  • Book and Supplies Fee (estimated): $1,300 per year
