The Computer Science degree is designed to provide you with the skills to join a varying range of IT careers, industrial research and development, or further academic study. The individualised pathway (through the use of options) allows students to begin specialising in any theme within Computer Science. 

During this course students will learn the fundamentals of computer science and advanced programming skills, and benefit from teaching that relates to the research interest of the academic staff. Specialities available during the course include computer graphics, artificial intelligence and agents, and data communications. If these areas appeal then this is a fitting Computer Science course.

This degree will not only equip students with practical skills, but also a deep understanding of the underpinning theory. Graduates from this course join industry in software development, database administration, network administration or similar positions. After graduation students should be able to obtain a good job in the computing industry in the UK or indeed with any of the international computing firms; or take up study for a higher degree such as a Masters Degree or PhD, both also offered at Bangor.

Admission Requirements

  • Minimum Level of Education Required: 1-Year Post-Secondary Certificate
  • Min GPA: 60.0% 
  • English Proficiency Requirements:
    For direct admission, applicant must be from an English speaking country or meet either of the following English test scores:
    • Min TOEFL iBT: 75 (Min Listening: 17.0, Min Reading: 18.0, Min Speaking: 20.0, Min Writing: 18.0)
    • Min IELTS overall: 6 (Min Listening: 5.5, Min Reading: 5.5, Min Speaking: 5.5, Min Writing: 5.5)
    • Min PTE overall: 56 (Min Listening: 51, Min Reading: 51, Min Speaking: 51, Min Writing: 51)
    Applicants interested in applying for direct admission, but are yet to complete an acceptable language test, can do so, but must provide valid results before receiving a final offer letter.
    For conditional admission, you are required to provide English proficiency scores:
    • Min TOEFL iBT: 32
    • Min IELTS overall: 4 (Min Listening: 4, Min Reading: 4, Min Speaking: 4, Min Writing: 4)
    • Min PTE overall: 30 (Min Listening: 30, Min Reading: 30, Min Speaking: 30, Min Writing: 30)
