Bachelor of Science (Honours) - Mathematics and Philosophy (VG51) at The University of Sheffield: Tuition Fee: £22,520.00 GBP / Year (Scholarship Available)

Program Description

This course trains students to approach abstract problems in a reasoned, logical way. Students will cover the same essential topics as other maths students, and choose from a huge range of options that introduce them to major thinkers and ask fundamental questions to challenge their understanding of the world around us.

There is a small but focused number of maths modules in the first two years, which allow them to build a powerful toolbox of mathematical techniques that they can apply to increasingly complex problems. Students will also choose from a wide range of optional philosophy modules, which range from religion, ethics and politics, to feminism, the arts and death.

Some module options include more project work. This gives them the chance to put their mathematics skills into practice in different contexts and scenarios that they might encounter when they start work after graduation.

By the third year, students will have the skills, knowledge and experience to go in lots of different directions in both mathematics and philosophy. There are lots of optional modules to choose from, so students can study the topics that best align with their aspirations.
