The BS program in parks and recreation management provides a transdisciplinary education in the management of parks, protected areas, community-based recreation services and special-event management. The parks and recreation field emerged from the youth development, recreation and park movements of the late 19th century. Students learn to integrate the managerial, natural and social sciences to make informed decisions for recreation service delivery.

The required internship component of the program allows students to gain practical experience in the parks and recreation professions.
