The main aim of the Mathematics Department of İstanbul Bilgi University is to raise mathematicians who can think in terms of abstract concepts and use this ability to solve problems. Graduates who wish to pursue a career outside academia can use their background in areas such as economics or software engineering.

During the first two years of the program students acquire a solid foundation in algebra and analysis right after a serious introduction to abstract mathematics. The last two years are reserved for more specialized and technical courses. In addition to these, the students develop their written and verbal communication skills in seminar and dissertation courses.
