The English Language Preparation program is a chance to improve your English language skills before beginning your pathway program. This program will you develop the required language skills to be successful in your intended pathway and degree program. 1-Semester Pathway and 2-Semester Pathway pre-sessional English are available. 1-Semester Pathway Pre-sessional English requires Academic IELTS for UKVI 5.0 overall (5.0 in all subskills) and 2-Semester Pathway Pre-sessional English requires Academic IELTS for UKVI 4.5 Overall (minimum 4.5 in all sub-skills).

This program consists of a pathway program offered by StudyGroup at the International Study Centre at the University of Sussex followed by entry into a university program offered at the University of Sussex. In the Pre-Master's programme, you will study courses related to your intended field of study alongside English to develop and enhance your skills as a student. Advancement into your intended program depends upon the successful completion of the pathway program.

The Pre-Masters in Business, Media and Social Sciences, provides a route to a variety of postgraduate degrees at the University of Sussex. English language and career skills are combined with subject-specific modules such as social sciences, cultural studies, a variety of business skills like accounting and business management to provide you with a strong foundation for your chosen business, media and social sciences degree.

During the Master of Law in Criminal Law and Criminal Justice, you’ll study an exciting range of topics. You’ll engage in advanced criminal law theory, as well as criminological theory to examine how societies can better understand and respond to crime.

Our research expertise informs our teaching on the LLM. You’ll learn from experts in their fields. Our faculty publish journal articles, books and public reports shaping the fields of criminal law, criminal justice studies and criminology.

You’ll be taught by lecturers who specialise in critical work, in areas including:
  • criminal law theory
  • comparative criminal justice
  • terrorism and international crimes
  • financial crimes
  • human rights and criminal justice

  • sexual offending
  • policing and restorative justice.
