Students can get the perfect start to their degree at De Montfort University with the International Year Zero (IYZ). Students will take an extra year of study at De Montfort University International College in order to complete a degree at DMU. Students who take the IYZ will continue to the 

first year of study of their chosen International Incorporated Bachelor's degree programme at DMU.      

Students will have individual subject tutors who will make sure that they are on track to achieve their study goals. Students will be given feedback both in person and in writing so that they always know how they are doing, and how to improve. Students will also be assessed through regular tests and exams.

English Language with Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) is a stimulating, thought-provoking course designed to make you think about how language functions in the world today.

English Language with TESOL at DMU allows students to combine the study of English Language with the key theoretical and practical issues involved in the field of Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages.

The course is designed to enable students to develop their own ability to teach English to non-native speakers whilst enabling them to think about how language in general and English in particular functions in the world today.   

Students will develop a set of linguistic and analytical skills, which will help them become a highly-skilled communicator. In the final year students will have the opportunity to put their theoretical knowledge into practice with the work placement module.
