The MRes Law and Society places emphasis on the doctrinal, theoretical and contextual study of law, and students self-understanding as a participant in the practice of legal scholarship. Students will explore the application of law and legal research in society, and develop advanced skills in legal research methods and analysis of law and legal issues. This program provides ideal preparation for PhD studies.
The University of Reading was ranked 10th for research intensity in a recent national assessment, with 100% of its research rated as world leading or internationally excellent.
The MRes Law and Society is one of a very few programs accredited for 1+3 funding under the South East ESRC Doctoral Training Centre scheme. Thrive as part of a very small cohort of high-calibre students, and undertake sustained training in methodological approaches to legal research.
Students will have full access to the University library, student common room, and all the other facilities available to Reading Law students.
