Fall & Spring 2023 Applications Are Still Open!

Bachelor of Applied Science - Engineering Chemistry (QE) at Queen's University: Tuition Fee: $54,893.00 CAD / Year (Scholarship Available)

As the only program of its kind in North America, Engineering Chemistry provides in-depth knowledge of chemistry in addition to engineering core knowledge. Engineering Chemistry graduates are experts in the chemistry behind industrial processes and combine a strong background in both chemistry and chemical engineering to treat problems of industrial interest.

In this program, students will study applied organic chemistry, inorganic chemistry, reactivity principles, methods of determining structure, and they will acquire knowledge of materials at a molecular level. Students will be able to apply this core chemical knowledge to design and improve processes and materials, ranging from fuel cells to pharmaceuticals. Areas of specialization include chemical diagnostics, alternative energy, and process synthesis.

The first year of study in Engineering and Applied Science is based on a common curriculum and serves as an introduction to all of the academic plans offered by the Faculty. The choice of academic plan the student intends to follow in the second and subsequent years is made in February in the Winter Term of the first year.

Note: Students in this program are also eligible for the Queen’s Undergraduate Internship Program (QUIP) which provides 2nd or 3rd year students with a 12-16 month work experience. The internships are paid, professionally supervised, career-related positions offering students the opportunity to learn about current advances, practices, and technologies in business and industry.
