The need to communicate clearly and concisely has never been greater. The Bachelor of Arts in Communication features five concentrations of study: advertising, communication, journalism, public relations and telecommunications.

 

UWF develops tomorrow’s leaders by teaching the principles and skills needed for successful careers in the ever-changing communication field. Students will get real-world experience solving problems for real clients.

Employers across all types of organizations need employees skilled in written and verbal communication.

UWF's communication program prepares students for a successful career in today’s communication professions. Students will combine classroom instruction with hands-on learning, client-based projects, community engagement opportunities and internships.

Students will choose a curriculum that best suits their interests and career goals by mixing and matching courses from the of five areas of concentration: advertising, communication, journalism, public relations or film and telecommunication.

The program blends academic theory with project-oriented classroom assignments and hands-on experience to help students become a skilled professional. Students will develop communication skills with personable instructors who foster a supportive climate while emphasizing quality work and high standards.

Students will also have ample opportunities to flex the skills they have learned in the classroom in an internship and in the student organizations: Speech and Debate, Club Ad, Film Club, Florida Public Relations Association and The Voyager student newspaper. The students have won the State Advertising Championship seven times, more than 100 ADDY Awards for Creative Excellence and a National Forensic Association Championship for speech and debate. The students have also received numerous accolades from the Southeast Journalism Conference and been recognized multiple times with the Florida Public Relations Association's Golden Image Award.
