Bachelor of Commerce - Actuarial Mathematics (Program Major) at University of Manitoba: Tuition: $21,300.00 CAD/year (Scholarship Available)

Actuarial mathematics involves the application of mathematical disciplines, particularly probability, statistics, and risk theory, to real-life financial problems involving future uncertainty. This analytical approach helps people and organizations quantify and reduce financial risk in areas as diverse as life, health, disability, marine, property and casualty insurance; annuities; and pension and employee benefits plans.

 

The Bachelor of Commerce - Actuarial Mathematics program is a 4-year degree program where students take a number of interesting courses, including:

  • Actuarial Aspects of Investment Practice
  • Economic & Financial Applications
  • Life Insurance Products and Employee Benefit Plans
  • Introduction to Risk Management
  • Financial Derivatives for Actuarial Practice
  • Actuarial Modeling Methods
  • Managing Insurance Operations in the International Business Environment

NOTE: Applications for this program must be submitted to the Bachelor of Commerce program within the application portal for acceptance/admission. Students complete their first year taking the necessary pre-requisite courses to gain admission into the major in second year. 

Admission Requirements

  • Minimum Level of Education Required: Grade 12 / High School
  • Min GPA: 50.0% 
  • English Proficiency Requirements:
    For direct admission, applicant must be from an English speaking country or meet either of the following English test scores:
    • Min TOEFL iBT: 86 (Min Listening: 20.0, Min Reading: 20.0, Min Speaking: 20.0, Min Writing: 20.0)
    • Min IELTS overall: 6.5 (Min Listening: 6.0, Min Reading: 6.0, Min Speaking: 6.0, Min Writing: 6.0)
    • Min PTE overall: 58
    Applicants interested in applying for direct admission, but are yet to complete an acceptable language test, can do so, but must provide valid results before receiving a final offer letter.
    This program does NOT offer conditional admission
