Bachelor of Commerce - Entrepreneurship/Small Business (Optional Co-op) (Program Major) at University of Manitoba: Tuition: $21,300.00 CAD/year (Scholarship Available)

Entrepreneurship is about creating value through identifying opportunities and subsequently gathering and managing resources to exploit these opportunities. Students in the Bachelor of Commerce - Entrepreneurship/Small Business program are exposed to this process in contexts such as new venture startup, social initiatives, small business management and family business. Students will encounter questions including: What is creativity and how does it relate to entrepreneurship? What is opportunity and how do businesses start in response to perceived opportunities? How does family involvement impact the business and family?

This 4-year degree program allows student to explore various topics related to entrepreneurship through their coursework, including the following:

  • New Venture Analysis
  • Family Business Management
  • Selected Topics in Small Business/Entrepreneurship
  • Small Business Management
  • Technological Entrepreneurship
  • Profiles in Entrepreneurial Leadership: The I.D.E.A Award Recipients Entrepreneurial Creativity Small Business Finance Social Entrepreneurship

Professional opportunities

Graduates with the Entrepreneurship/Small Business Major are typically oriented toward either starting their own business or working in an established small or medium-sized enterprise, both in the for-profit and not-for-profit sectors. However, given that many students double major with entrepreneurship/Small Business and another functional area (e.g., Marketing, Accounting, etc.) many students still pursue more conventional career paths, such as working for a larger established organization.

NOTE: Applications for this program must be submitted to the Bachelor of Commerce program within the application portal for acceptance/admission. Students complete their first year taking the necessary pre-requisite courses to gain admission into the major in second year.
