Waterloo professors and graduates have created 300 spin-off companies and the surrounding region is home to more than 600 technology companies that have $18 billion in annual revenue. Companies with offices in the region include BlackBerry, Google, OpenText, Dalsa, Certicom, Waterloo Maple, and iAnywhere Solutions. Students will learn from 70 professors with various research interests to help them explore this vast field. Students will have the opportunity to tailor their studies by choosing courses, options, or electives specific to your interests.

Note: For direct entry students require an overall IELTS score of 6.5 with the following band scores: 6.5 in writing, 6.5 in speaking, 6.0 in reading, 6.0 in listening. In lieu of this, students may be granted direct admission with an overall IELTS score of 7.0 with no band lower than 6.0.

 

     

     

     

    Admission Requirements

    • Minimum Level of Education Required: Grade 12 / High School
    • Min GPA: 95.0% 
    • English Proficiency Requirements:
      For direct admission, applicant must be from an English speaking country or meet either of the following English test scores:
      • Min TOEFL iBT: 90 (Min Speaking: 25.0, Min Writing: 25.0)
      • Min IELTS overall: 6.5 (Min Listening: 6.0, Min Reading: 6.0, Min Speaking: 6.5, Min Writing: 6.5)
      • Min Duolingo English Test Score: 120
      • Min PTE overall: 63 (Min Speaking: 65, Min Writing: 65)
      For conditional admission, you are required to provide English proficiency scores:
      • Min TOEFL iBT: 64
      • Min IELTS overall: 5.5 (Min Writing: 5)
      • Min PTE overall: 46

    Other fees:

    • Books and Supplies Fees: $2,100 per year
    • UHIP Fees: $504 per year
    • Health and Dental Fees: $388 per year
    • WUSA Incidental Fees: $350 per year
    • Orientation Fees: $117 (one time)
