The main aim of the Department of Economics is to provide its students with a vision that will understand and explain the economic dynamics that we observe in the business world and on a global scale and that change every day. In today's world where competition between individuals, companies and countries is increasing, this program, which combines economic facts with real life applications, aims to enrich the problem-solving and analytical skills of its graduates and their outlook on life, regardless of the career they choose. Özyeğin University is based on the fact that these lofty goals can only be achieved with a dynamic and balanced faculty staff.
The most basic feature that the economics program aims to bring to its students is to be global citizens with a broad vision, curious about economic and social developments on a local and global basis . Other values that the program aims to bring to its graduates can be summarized as follows:

The first two-year program of the Department of Economics, which aims to ensure that students gain these values and not limit their horizons only to Turkey, consists of courses that introduce the economy and business life and improve the analysis and communication skills of its students. The fact that the Department of Economics is a department established under the Faculty of Business provides an important advantage in understanding how economic concepts correspond in business life. After the students develop the skills they will use especially in business life in the first two years, field courses start with the third year. In a wide range from the Money and Banking course, where central bank policies are covered, to the Industrial Organization course, where market structures and company strategies are examined, It is designed for students to have in-depth knowledge of the basic study areas of economics and to gain analysis capacity. Following the internship in which they will transfer their knowledge to business life, students are expected to take elective courses in the fields they want to specialize in in their final year. In addition, students can choose different areas of specialization by taking elective courses offered by other departments in the Faculty of Business Administration.
