Combined Degree - Bachelor of Business Administration (Honours) & Bachelor of Arts (Honours) - Linguistics (EO) at Western University : Tuition Fee: $33,526.00 CAD / Year (Scholarship Available)

Unlike traditional business schools that expect students to choose a specialization early on, the 2+2 program structure of the Ivey Honours of Business Administration (HBA) offers students the freedom to explore their academic interests before choosing their career options. In the first two years, students can study in any faculty or program. This opportunity to gain new life experiences ensures that HBA students and their classmates bring diverse and more seasoned perspectives to their business education. The combination of a deep knowledge of business and another academic or professional field makes for a strong career foundation. Students can apply their first two years of university study at Western to two degrees.

Students in this program will have the option to complete a four year Honours Bachelor of Business Administration or to complete a combined degree with an Honours Bachelor of Business Administration (HBA) or to study for five years and combine the HBA with an Honours Bachelor of Arts. While in their first year at Ivey (HBA 1), students will apply for one of the combined degree programs. If admitted, they will spend their fourth and fifth years of university studying a combination of business courses and required courses in their second degree area. In five years, they will have completed two degrees.

Today, university students are surrounded by changes that impose choices–fundamentally important choices. In part, this situation is a product of shifts within university programs that now oblige students to select a substantial part of their own course of studies, but outside the university, the working world has also changed. It has grown more volatile and, for those who aspire to satisfying careers, there is a growing demand not only for skills in a speaker's native tongue but for an education in other languages as well.

Knowledge of other languages is promised by the very best institutions of higher learning, and students should expect no less when they come to Western. Such knowledge permits contact with other cultures and other peoples–contact through which whole new perspectives can be acquired. Students, mistrusting themselves, may find that idea too grand or too remote from their experience. What they remember is the problems of a high school language course–problems of memorizing vocabulary, or conjugating verbs. Let's begin, then, at the difficult point of those remembered tasks, and consider the value of language study in introductory or intermediate courses and programs.

NOTE: Please note the English scores listed are minimum requirements. Meeting the minimums does not guarantee admission. Students with low English scores may be admitted to the English BOOST Program, a 9 week training program for conditional admission to their chosen program.
