Combined Degree - Bachelor of Business Administration (Honours) & Bachelor of Science (Honours) - Geology and Biology (ES) at Western University : Tuition Fee: $33,526.00 CAD / Year (Scholarship Available)

Unlike traditional business schools that expect students to choose a specialization early on, the 2+2 program structure of the Ivey Honours of Business Administration (HBA) offers students the freedom to explore their academic interests before choosing their career options. In the first two years, students can study in any faculty or program. This opportunity to gain new life experiences ensures that HBA students and their classmates bring diverse and more seasoned perspectives to their business education. The combination of a deep knowledge of business and another academic or professional field makes for a strong career foundation. Students can apply their first two years of university study at Western to two degrees.

Students in this program will have the option to complete a four year Honours Bachelor of Business Administration (HBA) or to study for five years and combine the HBA with an Honours Bachelor of Science. While in their first year at Ivey (HBA 1), students will apply for one of the combined degree programs. If admitted, they will spend their fourth and fifth years of university studying a combination of business courses and required courses in their second degree area. In five years, they will have completed two degrees.

The Faculty of Science at Western University is one of Canada’s finest institutions of advanced learning.

The Western Science undergraduate academic experience is unique in Canada, offering each student the opportunity to design a custom course of study that aligns best with their career aspirations. Western Science is home to an Integrated Science program as well as eight discipline-specific streams that allow students to craft an academic path that will guide them to the career they want. Whether students want to tackle the scientific challenges facing modern-day society from a multi-disciplinary perspective or explore specific science disciplines in depth, the Faculty of Science has an engaging learning path especially for them.

In combination with internship programs, field schools, summer research opportunities, capstone projects, and international study opportunities, the Faculty of Science's academic programs provide an authentic learning context that inspire and drive success. Students can choose from approximately 140 modules and 480 courses in Science and Basic Medical Sciences, combine modules across departments and faculties, and pursue dual degrees with professional schools, including Engineering and one of the finest business schools in the world.

Studying Geology and Biology, students will focus on each area. Geology studies the processes that shape the Earth’s surface features, interior structure and composition. At Western, multidisciplinary skills are developed in field, laboratory, theory, and computation. This broad approach will give students the skills to meet emerging challenges in the responsible development of new resources and mitigation of natural hazards like earthquakes, volcanoes, and landslides.

In Biology, the emphasis is placed on developing critical thinking and communications skills, expertise in experimental design and a strong foundation in data analysis. Depending on the area of concentration, more specific skills acquired include the ability to assess ecosystems, identify flora and fauna, effectively implement tools of molecular biology and microscopy and gain experience with the use of analytical instrumentation. The breadth of modern biology is reflected in the more than seventy courses that are offered by the Biology Department. Courses span the whole range of student engagement from intensive laboratory-only offerings that start in second-year to small fourth-year seminars where the focus is on refining communications skills.
