The English Language Preparation program is a chance to improve your English language skills before beginning your pathway program. This program will you develop the required language skills to be successful in your intended pathway and degree program. 1-Semester Pathway and 2-Semester Pathway pre-sessional English are available. 1-Semester Pathway Pre-sessional English requires Academic IELTS for UKVI 5.0 overall (5.0 in all subskills) and 2-Semester Pathway Pre-sessional English requires Academic IELTS for UKVI 4.5 Overall (minimum 4.5 in all sub-skills).
This program consists of a pathway program offered by StudyGroup at the International Study Centre at the University of Sussex followed by entry into a university program offered at the University of Sussex. In the Pre-Master's programme, you will study courses related to your intended field of study alongside English to develop and enhance your skills as a student. Advancement into your intended program depends upon the successful completion of the pathway program.
The Pre-Masters in Business, Media and Social Sciences, provides a route to a variety of postgraduate degrees at the University of Sussex. English language and career skills are combined with subject-specific modules such as social sciences, cultural studies, a variety of business skills like accounting and business management to provide you with a strong foundation for your chosen business, media and social sciences degree.
Are you involved in work with migrants, refugees and asylum seekers? Or are you contemplating entering this field? The Master of Arts in Migration and Global Development will broaden your understanding of the relevant theories, concepts and policies.
Explore issues of governance, rights and diversity that shape migrants’ life chances. You'll examine migration processes and their consequences for today’s societies. Teaching is interdisciplinary, drawing insights from sociology, human geography, anthropology, development studies, politics, law, psychology, education, economics and demography.
You will have the opportunity to pursue your interests. You can explore topics including:
- transnationalism, migration and development
- governance and human rights
- refugees, citizenship, integration and cultural diversity.
We have strong links with government bodies, international organisations and NGOs. This includes the Department for International Development (DFID), the International Organization for Migration and Refugee Action. This MA also draws on the expertise of the Sussex Centre for Migration Research, located within the School of Global Studies.
