The Master of Engineering (Electrical) provides graduate engineers with discipline-specific knowledge and technical skills in electrical engineering, including renewable energy and high-voltage systems. Students will learn how electrical energy is produced and used in domestic, commercial and industrial buildings. Students will gain advanced knowledge in designing and building systems that generate, transmit, control and use electrical energy. Areas include wireless engineering, high voltage engineering, and digital integrated circuit design.

The program suits engineering graduates wanting specialist knowledge in the latest power engineering technologies, or seeking a career change in this sector.

The Master of Engineering delivers expert skills and applied competencies required for the professional engineer. It is designed to train and enhance professional practice, advance technical and specialist skills, and provide an opportunity to put theory into practice with applied projects and research. The degree also delivers communication, strategic and project management skills essential to the practising engineer.

Students will complete the core subjects in Professional Communications and Engineering Workplace Practice, Innovation and Design, Advanced Laboratory, and Research Methods.

For the Electrical major students will study subjects in Advanced Signals and Systems, Power System Analysis, Renewable and Distributed Generation, plus electives from Electrical, Computer, Mechanical or Engineering subjects. Students will also complete an advanced project.

  • Min GPA: 60.0%

    For direct admission, applicant must be from an English speaking country or meet either of the following English test scores:
    • Min TOEFL iBT: 86 (Min Listening: 17.0, Min Reading: 18.0, Min Speaking: 17.0, Min Writing: 18.0)
    • Min IELTS overall: 6.5 (Min Listening: 6.0, Min Reading: 6.0, Min Speaking: 6.0, Min Writing: 6.0)
    • Min Duolingo English Test Score: 115
    • Min PTE overall: 62 (Min Listening: 54, Min Reading: 54, Min Speaking: 54, Min Writing: 54)
    For conditional admission, you are required to provide English proficiency scores:
    • Min TOEFL iBT: 32
    • Min IELTS overall: 4.5 (Min Reading: 4, Min Writing: 4)
    • Min Duolingo English Test Score: 65
