prof. Dr. As one of the oldest engineering branches, Nesrin Yanıki Tiryakioğlu Civil Engineering contributes to the safe, sustainable and civilized life of human beings in nature. Today, many of our young people choose this profession in order to push the limits, to create the world of tomorrow, and to raise their living standards to higher levels.
Being aware of the fact that high quality education and strong research program are the two most important factors of a good institution, the aim of our Department is to train engineers who are well-known in the country and abroad and who will serve the Civil Engineering profession by considering the public interest. In line with this purpose, we define our mission as “to prepare students to be responsible, open-minded, theoretically and practically well-equipped, creative, ethical, social, inclined to teamwork and publicly beneficial individuals so that they can contribute to their profession”. During their four-year education, students will learn basic engineering knowledge and civil engineering in structural, geotechnical, transportation, hydraulic, material, They have basic knowledge of each of the environmental and building management branches and develop their knowledge in the field they are interested in with elective courses. With the two internships they have completed, they have the opportunity to get to know the business life even at school age.
Our students, who are the civil engineers of the future, will be able to work in a team, be creative, design, be successful in business and social life, and learn for life, thanks to the events, career days and conferences, in addition to the computer, foreign language, basic engineering and professional knowledge they have acquired at the university. They also have the opportunity to increase their skills and abilities. In addition, our Department, which is in dialogue with the construction industry and NGOs, organizes practical activities such as site visits and sectoral exhibitions for students to develop their skills, organizes international symposiums and conferences in coordination, and allows them to participate in student club activities and student project competitions.
Fields of Work Civil Engineers are involved in design, construction, operation and inspection positions in many different disciplines such as transportation, energy, building materials and water works, apart from the building sector that comes to mind. Depending on these, they have job opportunities in public institutions such as DSI and KGM as well as private institutions. The profession also offers a wide range of domestic and international employment opportunities such as office, construction site, material production, inspection and R&D.
